Hilmar Þór Sigurjónsson

“My name is Hilmar Þór Sigurjónsson and I was born on the 5th of February 1985. I was raised in Öræfasveit and have lived here for most of my life. Both of my parents are from here and I come from a family that has lived here for more than 200 years! My parents are farmers and at a young age I started having much interest in the horses at the farm. I started young to ride horses and now I have dedicated a large part of my life to the Icelandic horse. I studied equistry for three years at Hólar University in north Iceland where I learned riding instruction and learned about breeding and training of the Icelandic horse.”

Sophia Fingerhut

“My name is Sophia and I grew up in Germany. I’ve been involved with horses all my life and have been passionate about Icelandic horses since I was a child. I received a classical dressage riding education. After school I decided to go to Iceland for the first time  to work with horses and kept returning. Meanwhile I finished my degree in special education  at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Later on I settled down in the south of Iceland  and got the chance to work among the best trainers in the Icelandic horse world. I learned a lot about building up young horses for competition and breeding shows. My riding influences are mostly rooted in classical principles and the combination with gaited horses fascinates me! Glacier Horses is my home and my vision is to create a place devoted to the Icelandic horse & share this joy with others!”
